Woman with orchid

An explosion of colour and chlorophyll emerging from the head of an innately graceful female figure. The rich and impactful colour scheme evokes early-20th century Latin American paintings and is executed on a pictorial support that continues to endure over time, birch wood. The theme – related to the wild orchids of the Apulian Murgia – is portrayed by Gino Donvito, whose deep aesthetic sensibility is at least as strong as his love for his native land.

Profile of woman with orchid

A woman’s profile stands out against a deep brown background that contrasts with the delicate, rosy colour of her porcelain complexion. A beautiful and rare wild orchid is shown in the foreground in all its extraordinary fragility. Green beams of light cut through the scene, balancing and harmonizing every detail, every form that makes up the work. A woman and a flower, united in striking, splendid poetry.
